Description | The International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture was established to promote the conservation and exchange of the world's plant genetic resources for food and agriculture (PGRFA). The Australian Government, through the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR), has contributed to the Treaty's Benefit-sharing Fund since 2009. Funding under this investment provides additional funding to facilitate research, training and breeding of agricultural crops around the world, and to safeguard these resources for future generations and is valued at $2.1 million over 3 years, starting 2015-16. |
